President's Message

Hello and welcome, another show is already being organised.

Although not new to committee work and a position of president, I am new to this role of President of the Swan View and Districts Agricultural & Arts Society's Annual Show. This is a daunting task with such a wide variety of events & competitions, ranging from all kinds of animals, displays, music and of course the hall events where people are able to show off their talents in cooking, photography, crafts, gardening and much more.

Last year I was a steward for the photography judge, and seeing the hundreds of other entries in the different sections, I realise that the Shire of Mundaring and City of Swan must have some very talented people in so many different fields. I suspect this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Having taken on this position, I thought I should make myself aware of the history of the show itself, A show that is in its 63rd year must have had dedicated people to keep it as one of the only shows in Perth to maintain its agricultural traditions as well as incorporating all the other details that make it the success it is.

I have been reading some of the history of Swan View and possibly in this, or shows to come, we may be able to incorporate some of this history as a theme and a dedication in some way to the people who made this area what it is today, going back to the stage coach days, or the building of the Swan View Tunnel. So if anyone has any photos or information about shows past or present, I would be grateful to receive it.

As with all committees we are always looking for new ideas and volunteers, and we are also searching for people of all ages to enter our large variety of competitions and displays.

Thanks to the committee, judges and volunteers who have helped maintain the standard of the shows, and to the exhibitors. without whom the show would not go on.

lf you are able to help in any way, have suggestions that we may be able to put forward, or items you would like to display, our meetings are held in the Brock pavilion, Brown Park Swan View on the third Wednesday of each month, or feel free to contact me on 0401 947738.

See you at the show.

Judy Fahey.
President.
